No, I was wrong

Red Cat Quilt
I actually didn’t get ahead of myself. We did go to the book sale today instead of tomorrow. Hit the knitting shop too and had an Indian lunch. It was so nice to go someplace without the destination being the hospital or a doctor’s office. A much needed break for both of us. Both of us were tired upon getting home.

We came home loaded down with books, yarn and full stomachs.

I actually bought some yarn to make the sweater jacket I have wanted to make for a while now out of the Knit Kimono book. I am tired so I will scan a few tomorrow.

Ok, so I have this thing for cookbooks, odd cookbooks. Here are a few that I picked up at the book sale.

You will note that one of them is not a cookbook. It is a children’s book called The Secret of the Crazy Quilt. Now didn’t that just have to come home with me?

The other oddities were The Storybook Cookbook which has recipes for things like Pinocchio’s Pannikin Poached Eggs, Heidi’s Toasted Cheese Sandwiches, The Swiss Family Robinson’s Lobster Bisque, Rat’s Bake Ham, Robinson Crusoe’s Homemade Oven Bread and Captain Hook’s Poison Cake – it has green frosting!…among others.

And Cuisine d’Amour contains modern (1952 Limited edition) adaptations of nearly 200 selected historical recipes. The chapter titles that really cracked me up is “Something in General About Sexual Regeneration” and “Pleasure of the Table at the DuBarry”.

Keeping right in line with my other cookbook titles like The Dracula Cookbook and The Sherlock Holmes Cookbook I also picked up Shakespeare’s Kitchen. ☺

OK, OK, so I like weird cookbooks.

It has rained all day. It was very foggy all the way home. It is always a bit bizarre when you know a traffic light is coming up and you can’t see it. At least most people were taking it slow.

I just looked at my tags and said to myself “What more could anyone want?”

"Heidi’s Toasted Cheese Sandwiches"

I used to toast cheese, just cheese, on the stove because of "Heidi". It's so tasty!

Yes, just when the edges get a bit crackly.

I'm surprised you didn't include "Orlando Bloom" . . .

It looks great. Is the story any good? I'm collecting quilt story books like this too, now, though since I don't go OUT it is hard to find them! LOL!!

I sure do understand about being glad to go somewhere that didn't involve a medical procedure or doctor's visit!!

I haven't read it yet. I'll let you know. I found this in the young adult section.
